My goal was to achieve a simple interface and gestures for the Hive WATCH App and control the essential Hive devices.
Reimagining Home with home control from your wrist. The WATCH is ideal for interacting with our homes. Simple interfaces and gestures like tapping, pressing, swiping and glancing, make for a fluid way to access and control your Smart home products.
"The good thing is that it's always on your wrist, so you don't have to dig for it in your pockets or between the couch cushions when you need to dim the lights or turn your heating on".
METHOD
Working with Agile methodologies, the Double Diamond Framework guided me and the team through the design process.
Depending on your role and the project, the size of the diamonds may vary. Meaning that there might be challenges or projects, in which we solely focus or emphasis on one part of the Double Diamond.
This process is not linear. In reality, you need to be prepared to be agile and go back and forth at any point.
DISCOVER
Data and insights from our customers helped us understand that designing an Apple watch App was the right thing to do for our customers and that there was the need for one. Who would not like the ability to control there home from their wrist.
DEFINE
Started investigating the architecture of the App and defining what the MVP would look like for both UK and US market based on the essential Hive devices at the time.
IDEATION
Started evaluating ideas through wireframes and prototypes that we tested with customers, making sure we design things right.
DEVELOP
We proceeded by experimenting with different UI styles and continued evaluating ideas through user testing to make sure we are on the right track.
